Our annual summer tour took place last weekend at Ghan House in beautiful Carlingford, Co Louth. It was a fantastic day helped in no small part by Mother Nature as the weather was glorious.
Ghan House is a fully restored, family run Georgian House in an idyllic setting in the medieval town of Carlingford.
The day began with the 2018 Interiors Association Bake Off Challenge 🙂
We donned our aprons, paired off in teams and over the course of the morning produced, 2 starters, 2 mains together with sides, salads and home made bread selections and and 2 scrumptious deserts.
Pumpkin seed & scallion crusted goats cheese with roasted tomato
Creamy corn soup with smoked paprika oil
Plain white bread rolls
Chocolate & chilli bread rolls
Soy braised salmon fillets, Asian mushrooms, tender stem broccoli & Chinese egg noodles
Roast chicken breasts filled with mushroom mousse, wrapped in Parma ham served with tomato cous cous
Chick pea salad
Wild rocket, apple & goats cheese salad
Warm peach & almond Clafoutis served with compote & citrus cream
Passionfruit & pink grapefruit Posset with meringue shards
And I’m delighted to say…. we were all winners. In fact turns out, we’re a pretty masterful bunch around a kitchen ? And at the risk of tooting our own horns, lunch was absolutely delicious. Well done to all our chefs!
After lunch we were treated to a presentation on Porters Paints by Robert McAllister of McAllister Interiors. Thank you Robert for such an insightful and educational talk, we certainly learned a lot. And thank you in particular for our "Goodie Bags”.
We ended the day by taking a stroll in the sunshine around the picturesque village of Carlingford before heading home, tired, fed and very happy.
